Math Placement Chart Text Descriptions

If the student takes M018 (not for Gen Ed credit), then they have three tracks available:

1. M106: Mathematics of Decision and Beauty
   • If the ALEKS score is greater than or equal to 35, then the student can take M106
2. Finite
   • If the ALEKS score is greater than or equal to 50, then the student can take V118
   • If the ALEKS score is greater than or equal to 50, then the student can take M118
   • If the ALEKS score is greater than or equal to 40, then the student can take D116
     • To receive credit, the student must take both D116 and D117 with a grade of D- or above
3. Math for Business and Public Affairs (B110)
   • If the ALEKS score is greater than or equal to 55, then the student can take B110

Calculus track

• If the ALEKS score is less than 35, then the student must enroll in M125 along with the corequisite course X125.
• If the ALEKS score is greater than or equal to 35 (required) or 45 (recommended), then the student can take M125.
  1. To receive credit, the student must then take either M119 or V119
     1. If the ALEKS score is greater than or equal to 50 (required) or 60 (recommended), then the student can take M119 or V119
  2. After taking M119 or V119, then the student may take M120
  3. The student may alternatively take M126 followed by M211. To receive Gen Ed credit, the student must take M211.
• If the ALEKS score is greater than or equal to 50 (required) or 55 (recommended), then the student can take M127.
  1. To receive Gen Ed credit, the student must then take M211
     1. If the ALEKS score is greater than or equal to 70 (required) or 75 (recommended), then the student can take M211
  2. After taking M211, then the student may take M212
  3. After taking M212, then the student may take most higher-level math courses

      • Minimum ALEKS score required: 50
      • Does not meet Gen Ed Math Modeling requirement
   5. Course Number: M211
      • Minimum ALEKS score recommended: 75
      • Minimum ALEKS score required: 70
      • Meets Gen Ed Math Modeling requirement
